Contract Action Team
What is the Contract Action Team (CAT)?
It is going to take all ~700 Research Coordinators and Consultants (CoCos) working together to win a contract we deserve. In every school, college, department, and area, CoCos are shaping our bargaining priorities and preparing to take action to improve our workplace rights. In order to build the strong, majority participation needed to make progress on key issues like fair wages, improved benefits, workplace protections, and more, CoCos are forming a Contract Action Team (CAT). The role of everyone on the CAT is to make sure your coworkers stay informed and engaged to win a strong contract.
What do CATs do?
Members of the Contract Action Team commit to:
- Publicly participate: be a visible union supporter, wear union gear, etc.
- Keep others informed: talk to other CoCos about bargaining, relay updates from the Bargaining Committee, answer questions, and address concerns.
- Engage coworkers: make sure CoCos know the stakes of this campaign for a strong contract, are participating in shaping and voting on bargaining priorities, and are coming together to put pressure on UW through sign-on letters, rallies, and other forms of collective action—up to and including a strike if justified and necessary.
- Expand the CAT: identify other CoCos who can do all of the above in their own school, college, department, area, center, or lab.
Who are CATs and how do I join?
CAT members are a growing group of CoCos across all colleges, departments, and areas. Anyone can become a part of the CAT and/or recommend a colleague they believe should be! Get started by emailing coco-bargaining@uaw4121.org to set up a quick meeting to learn what comes next in the UAW 4121-CoCo contract campaign.
