Welcome to the University of Washington and UAW Local 4121, the Union for Academic Student Employees (ASEs), Postdocs, Research Scientists A-4, and now, Research Coordinators and Consultants! Through the Union we bargain collectively over the terms and conditions of employment for all UAW Local 4121 represented employees at UW. Research Coordinators and Consultants are currently bargaining our first contract, and can sign up for union membership now! 

Our strong majority membership has allowed us to negotiate and enforce wage increases, improvements to health insurance, strong workload and non-discrimination and sexual harassment protections, as well as other improvements. Our ability to improve and defend our rights depends on every ASE, Postdoc, Research Scientist A-4, and Research Coordinator/Consultant signing up for membership.

All ASEs, Postdocs, Research Scientists A-4, and Research Coordinators/Consultants can join, including international students/postdocs/researchers. Additionally, all UW graduate students can become members, regardless of your funding source. Research Coordinators and Consultants won’t pay dues until the collective bargaining agreement has been approved by a vote of Research Coordinators & Consultants and our first contract is ratified.
