Today, UW Research Coordinators and Consultants held our first Bargaining Session with members of UW administration’s bargaining team. Thanks to our majority support and unit’s engagement, our team was well prepared, and it was an overall success! We built our initial contract proposals directly from your survey responses, and we’re continuing our campaign to create a more fair and equitable working environment for research coordinators and consultants!
Members of UW’s bargaining team include representatives from the School of Medicine, School of Public Health, College of Environment, College of Arts and Sciences, School of Engineering, Director of Clinical Trials Office, and central HR and Compensation.
During the bargaining sessions we:
- Set the ground rules for how bargaining will be carried out.
- Presented our initial contract proposals to incorporate CoCos and our demands into the RSE contract.
- Confirmed future bargaining dates – all members are invited to attend! Reply to this email if you’d like more information on attending a bargaining session.
What’s next? Winning a fair contract will require CoCos from every part of campus to act collectively to build the necessary power and leverage. Contract Action Teams (CAT) will hold area meetings over the next couple of weeks where we will go over the first bargaining session in greater depth and answer any questions you may have! If you want to learn more and help fight for you and your fellow CoCos rights, consider becoming a CAT leader. You can sign up here or email your bargaining team at coco-bargaining@uaw4121.org to join the Contract Action Team.
